Baymont by Wyndham Kansas City KU Medical Center

We were a little (ok, a lot) worried after reading some of the reviews, but our stay was apparently nothing like what some of the other guests have experienced. Cleanliness - nearly perfect, sheets, towels, shower, bathroom counter were all done well, carpeted floor was clean. The only thing that looked like it might have been overlooked was sweeping under the bathroom counter. Sleep quality - actually, one of the best I've had in a hotel. The street it was on wasn't a major road, and unlike some fancy downtown hotels we've stayed at, it never turned into a drag strip or anything like that. The curtains fit into a frame along the window, so the room got really dark at night, which really helped me sleep. Heater worked well, and mattress was decently comfortable. Location - quite good for the price. At 1/3 the price of the hotels near the convention center (where we had an event to attend), we were able to drive or bus in 10-15 minutes. The neighborhood was quiet enough, and although it wasn't pretty and picturesque (right by an industrial area), my daughter and I felt safe. Extra amenities - wi-fi worked well. Fitness center was decent for the hotel price; we've been at more expensive hotels with a smaller fitness area (4 cardio machines and 7-10 weight machine options, depending on if you count different grips as a different option). Breakfast was definitely not the best I've had at hotels, very limited options (yogurt, bread for toast, juice, a few types of cereal, sausage patties, and a Belgian waffle maker), and it started late both days we were there, but it was free, and oftentimes even more expensive hotels don't offer anything. Property - Lobby areas were clean and well-lit. The hotel was showing signs of wear in some areas, like a ceiling that needed patching in our room, or areas that needed a fresh coat of paint. Breakfast area was roomy enough and kept clean, and there was a coffee bar that, while it had limited options, was kept stocked. Staff - we had limited staff interaction, but the staff we did interact with were courteous and straightforward. Bottom line, we'd consider staying here again. It's not the best hotel we've ever stayed at, but it's also not the worst, and considering the price we paid, we were satisfied.

Staff was friendly but when calling the front desk no one would answer. Room was clean. There was no hair dryer in the bathroom. I guess shame on us for assuming but we have never not had one in a hotel so my wife didn't pack one. Made getting ready for our night out difficult for her. Tried calling the front desk to see if it had haystack been removed from the room but no one at the front would answer.

Room was very comfortable with amazing shower! Owner makes you homemade eggs/omelets to your liking!

Carlita was an exceptional hotel front of house host very informative very warm and welcoming. That’s it told me exactly where everything was and is and grabbed me extra towels like she knew I was gonna ask for them. It doesn’t get much better than that in this line of service I use a hotel once a month and this so far has been a five star Hilton $500 night I had to pay for last week thank you Carlita for the tranquility stay stay!!!!!

This place has always been one of my favorites. The employees are understanding, they treat u like ur an adult and human, they don't mess with u or cause u problems. They work with u if u need it. And I clean my own room and always have no matter where I go but this place has the perfect location and it also is pretty clean for the people that come in here with no care and just throw trash anywhere without picking shit up for the hotel. I give this place a 10 if I could but there is only a 5 star so I give it 5++++++!!! Harry, Katlyn, and the manager are my favorites here. They are amazing and if u need any help those are the 3 to go to that will help u out with any and everything. Check this place out of u haven't. I will always come here over any hotel

This hotel is really clean and quiet. Stayed one night on a weekday. Comfy bed and pillows. It's been renovated, so the carpets look super new and clean, and no bad smells in the room or hotel that we smelled. Staff was all friendly. Breakfast had toast, cereals, yogurts, oatmeal, biscuits & gravy, and waffles. Felt safe & great location. Would definitely recommend staying!

My room was a 5 start and it was one of their pet rooms, I work at marriot and so standard to me is extremely high quality and this definitely passed for me. It smelt so good when we walked in sometimes people seem to get the wrong perception since the look of the hotel is outdated brick and plain but its lit up at night, quite but has a bright and modern feel on the inside has a mexican restaurant in the parking lot within 40 steps and sonic on the other side. Might I add every place I worked would NEVER consider to put down which pets are in which rooms but when we asked to be close to my moms rooms they said we cant due to our room being a pet rooms which was disappointing but extremely understandable. Nothing has made me bat an eye!

It could have been much worse. Mainly was annoyed that I asked for a late check out and reminded them 3 times and they still came knocking on my door at 11:15. My room wasn't comfortable. The shade was broken, hair residue in tub, and trash in bin. None of those deal breakers- again more annoying than anything. Several restaurants within walking distance. Big well lit parking lot. Several buildings make up the hotel with 2 levels. I didn't see an elevator. They had an outdoor pool. Vending, on site laundry, ice machines, complimentary breakfast. The breakfast was good. $77 for one night. That's reasonable. I like that most hotels are converting lamps to have charging ports. Nice touch.
